Cities around the world take pride in providing world-class stadia and aquatic facilities. Beca has played a key role in the design and project management of some of New Zealand and Australia’s major sporting facilities including Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Waikato Stadium, Westpac Stadium and the Genesis Recreation Centre.
With a multi-disciplinary team drawn from architects, project managers and engineers including fire engineering, geotechnical engineers, surveyors and planners, Beca work closely with local authorities and developers to provide facilities of a world-class standard that attract national and international competitions, as well as serving as a valuable community facility.
Challenges our designers have overcome include developing a free draining pitch, designing special cowls for floodlights to protect local residents from light pollution, achieving energy savings through life-cycle cost analysis and a daylight monitoring and control system in an aquatic centre to help further the energy savings in artificial lighting.
The combined talents and knowledge drawn from throughout Beca put us in a strong position to provide professional services for sporting facilities.
