Living & working in NZ

Auckland is Beca's headquarters. As you would expect, it houses the largest number of people and disciplines. You won't go far in Auckland without encountering a project that Beca has or is working on: the Sky Tower, Auckland City Hospital, Central Motorway Junction, the Viaduct Basin, and the runways and facilities at Auckland Airport are just a few examples of how we are contributing to the growth and development of Auckland. Our work is as bold and diverse as the city itself.

If you are seeking a more laid-back lifestyle you might enjoy our Hamilton office, which is situated right in the middle of one of New Zealand's most important agricultural regions. Our Hamilton-based consultants are regularly engaged on local infrastructure projects and helped deliver the 230m Mokau Bridge and the Waikato Stadium, both regional landmarks.

Situated in the sun-filled Bay of Plenty, our Tauranga office works closely with local councils and developers on infrastructure, industrial and building projects, in and around this thriving coastal city. Not surprisingly, the office has a strong community and environmental focus, and our Tauranga team has played a key role in urbanisation and coastal development strategies across the region.

Wellington is New Zealand's political and cultural centre, with a unique geological and natural environment that has helped shape the focus of our Wellington business. You'll work alongside some of the world's most influential seismic consultants and specialist teams who worked on the Wellington Airport terminal building, the Westpac Stadium (scene of many nail-biting rugby internationals) and the largest wind farm built to date in the Southern Hemisphere. As with all Beca offices, our Wellington consultants work internationally. The Water team is currently consulting on important water projects in Australia and Fiji, while the earthquake specialist team has undertaken work in Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Samoa and Romania, and is currently providing advice for base isolation in India, retrofit work in Turkey, and high-level assistance to a number of utilities and industrial sites in New Zealand.

In New Plymouth we have a specialist team working with the local oil, gas and petrochemical industry and, as with all our regional offices, we have a strong contingent of civil engineers assisting with the design of local infrastructure. Our New Plymouth office is also an important centre for our work within the chemical and dairy industries.

What will it be like, living in New Zealand? There are a number of options depending on where in the country you choose to work.
